Net income of German workers to decline in 2027

17:25 - 7.10.2026

October 7, Fineko/abc.az. The Federation of German Taxpayers expects that in 2027 the growth of social contributions may exceed the effect of tax breaks, which will lead to a decrease in the net income of many workers.

According to organization’s president Rainer Holznagel, this will especially affect highly paid qualified specialists. The maximum amount of income for calculating insurance premiums is planned to be additionally increased by €300 per month. At that, the tax reform, in his estimation, will not be significant enough, and for the first time since 2016, adjustment of the income tax scale to account for inflation is not envisaged.

As a result, tax benefits in 2027 will be minimal, while an increase in social contributions will reduce workers' incomes after mandatory payments.
