October 7, Fineko/abc.az. QatarEnergy raised a five-year loan of $3 billion from four major Chinese banks - Bank of China, Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank Asia.
The funds will be used to finance current operations and replenish the working capital of Qatar's state-owned energy company.
The loan rate is set at the overnight secured financing rate plus 50 basis points.
The deal reflects the active participation of Chinese banks in financing companies in the Persian Gulf countries. In 2025, the volume of such loans increased more than fivefold, reaching a record of $11.5 billion.
QatarEnergy remains one of the world's largest LNG suppliers. In 2026, company's activities are complicated by the conflict in the Middle East, restrictions on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and damage to facilities in Ras Laffan.
