Gold Holds Gains Near $4,160 as US Bond Yields Retreat

11:12 - 16.10.2026

October 16, Fineko/abc.az. Gold held its Thursday gains—the strongest daily rally in more than two weeks—supported by falling US Treasury yields and safe-haven flows triggered by a tech-led sell-off in stock markets. Spot gold traded around $4,160 per ounce as bond yields dropped 12 to 15 basis points across the curve.

Despite higher-than-expected September inflation data boosting rate hike expectations, the pullback in yields provided support for non-yielding bullion. Market participants are closely watching Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's upcoming remarks at the IMF meetings in Bangkok.

Silver slipped to $57.13, while platinum and palladium remained largely unchanged.
