October 14, Fineko/abc.az. The International Energy Agency (IEA) warned in its latest monthly market report that global supplies of diesel and middle distillates will remain under severe pressure through 2027 due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Russia. Despite sluggish overall oil consumption, safety risks continue to disrupt supply routes.
Global oil demand is projected to drop by 2.6 million barrels per day (bpd) this year to average 102.4 million bpd, marking the largest annual loss since 2020. Severe inventory drawdowns have left global observed oil stocks 509 million barrels below pre-conflict levels.
Although demand growth is expected to recover by 2 million bpd in 2027, total consumption will still trail 2025 levels.
