October 6, Fineko/abc.az. Alphabet, Google's parent company, has signed a 20-year agreement to purchase nuclear power from Constellation Energy. The deal covers 890 megawatts of new capacity, with Constellation investing over $4.3 billion in facility construction to support the PJM Interconnection grid.
Driven by the artificial intelligence boom, tech giants are increasingly turning to zero-emission, round-the-clock nuclear energy to power expanding data centers.
The agreement follows similar recent moves by Amazon (690 MW with Constellation) and Microsoft, which contracted power from the restarted Three Mile Island nuclear plant.
