Apple Appeals Historic $5.7 Billion Patent Verdict in Haptic Technology Dispute

October 15, Fineko/abc.az. Apple Inc. has asked a US federal court in San Diego to overturn a $5.7 billion patent infringement verdict—the largest in US history—awarded to Taction Technology over haptic feedback tech used in iPhones and Apple Watches. Apple argued that the record-breaking damages decision handed down last month was "unsupported by evidence."

Taction Technology originally filed the lawsuit against Apple in 2021. On September 25, a federal jury ruled that Apple's "Taptic Engine" infringed on two of Taction's patents, leading to the massive damages assessment that Apple is now contesting.
